Abstract

The teacher is an important component because it is the spearhead in education. The
teacher also has a role to educate so that behavior changes occur in accordance with the goals of
education. The interest of students to become teachers is influenced by external and internal factors.
External motivation is also influenced by peers interaction. Peers have an important role in shaping
student learning motivation. The research design used quantitative research is approachment
deskriptive, using a questionnaire as the main data collector with a sample of 69 students of the 2016
class economic education program. 30 students were used as subjects in the instrument trial research
testing validity and reliability. Multiple regression analysis is a the data analysis methode . The results
refer to: (1) Interest in being a teacher had a partial effect on the learning motivation of students of the
2016 economic education study program, this was evidenced by the results of tcount > ttable or (2,423>
1,667); (2) Peers have a partial effect on the learning motivation of students of the 2016 economic
education program, this is evidenced by the results of tcount > ttable or (2,694> 1,667); (3) Interest in
being a teacher and peers simultaneously affect the learning motivation of students of the 2016
economic education program, this is evidenced by the results of Fcount > Ftable or (10,563> 3.99). So the
higher interest in being a teacher and the positive influence of peer students, the higher motivation to
learn.
